Edgar Cayce Books –
Learning more about
“the father of holistic medicine”

Edgar Cayce Books

When we started looking, in the late sixties, there weren’t too many Edgar Cayce books out there.

But today, a dozen biographies have been written, and some 300 other books about him and his readings!

The truth is, Edgar Cayce and the information that came through him are attracting more interest than ever before. Clearly, the subject is increasingly current!

Where to start? There’s an awful lot of material available! The older ones-- There is a River (1943) by Thomas Sugrue, Many Mansions (1950) by Gina Cerminara, Venture Inward (1964) by Hugh Lynn Cayce, and The Sleeping Prophet (1967) by Jess Stearn -- are all wonderful introductions to Cayce in general, and still classics in the field.

There are several whole series of books, including “Edgar Cayce on…” from Warner Books, and “An Edgar Cayce Guide” from St. Martin’s Press. You can get a complete listing of Edgar Cayce books at edgarcaycebooks.org. Many of the older titles are obtainable used online from Amazon.com, ABEBooks.com, Half.com or Alibris.com. It can also be easier to find Cayce books in a local library nowadays than it used to be.

FEELING SWAMPED?

If you're anything like us, you can run the risk of feeling overwhelmed when you first try to nose around a little!

Since this website is concerned with Edgar Cayce’s information on natural health, you could narrow your search to that, at first, and start with these two notable authors, whose convictions carry the reinforcement of many years of medical experience:

(1) A pre-eminent guide to the psychic’s healing methods is The Edgar Cayce Handbook for Health Through Drugless Therapies (1975) by Harold J. Reilly, D.O., with Ruth Hagy Brod. Reilly was a renowned osteopathic physician and massage therapist, known as one of the world’s most outstanding physiotherapists. Cayce sent cases to Dr. Reilly as far back as 1930, before Reilly had even heard of Cayce! Using the Edgar Cayce readings, he developed a special form of massage therapy, based on the holistic unity of body, mind and spirit.

(2) Another distinguished author of Edgar Cayce books is William A. McGarey, M.D., co-founder of the A.R.E. Clinic in Arizona with his wife, Gladys Taylor McGarey (known internationally as the Mother of holistic medicine). For over 30 years, he has been treating patients, using Cayce healing ways. Some of his works are:

Edgar Cayce on Healing (with Mary Ellen Carter)

Edgar Cayce on Healing Foods

The Edgar Cayce Remedies

Heal Arthritis - Physically, Mentally, Spiritually

Healing Miracles

In Search of Healing

The Oil That Heals
(formerly titled Edgar Cayce and the Palma Christi)

Wherever you start reading about the “sleeping prophet,” you’re likely to find yourself hooked! Cayce’s own story and the methods he used to heal body, mind and spirit are fascinating and compelling, and we think you’ll find yourself wanting to know more and more!

One of the most famous and universally applied of the Edgar Cayce remedies is castor oil, the "Palma Christi."
